SOLUTION (Note 742013.1):
This is a compatibility problem with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle and its use with an 11g or later database. To workaround this problem with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle you can switch to the Oracle ODBC Driver which is supported against an 11g database.
